Community Highlights: Meet Giulina Sertl of Photography by Giulina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Giulina Sertl.

Hi Giulina, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have been creative for as long as I can remember. My childhood consisted of me constantly draping fabrics on mannequins trying to come up with something new, attending fashion shows, and creating monthly magazines to give out to friends.

I got my first camera when I was six years old and immediately, I was obsessed. In high school, I took my first film photography course and fell in love with the process. Something about watching the photos come to life seemed like pure magic to me. Moving into college I became more interested in digital photography and the editing process. I graduated from Webster University in May of 2021 with a double major in Business Management and Media Communications with a concentration in Photography.

Recently I’ve started my own photography business – Photography by Giulina. I specialize in portraits, food and drink photography, fashion photography, and product photography. Local clients I’ve worked with include Olive + Oak, Planter’s House, Perennial on Lockwood, Mac’s Local Eats, The Parkmoor, KIND Soap Company, and Russell’s Cafe and Bakery.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but the challenges have helped me grow professionally and personally.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I specialize in portraits, food and drink photography, fashion photography, and product photography. I love being behind the camera and helping make the client’s vision come to life whether that’s a senior photoshoot or photographing a product for launch.

The work I am most proud of is in the fall of 2021 I had the opportunity to go to Paris Fashion Week as a photographer. I photographed the Valentino and Balenciaga Spring/Summer 2022 shows and did street-style work throughout the week. It felt surreal to be living and working in my favorite city, which was something I’d dreamed of for so long.

Currently, I am offering photoshoot packages found on my website. If you’re not seeing exactly what you’re looking for feel free to reach out! Something new this year that I am excited to announce is that I’m starting to sell prints of my work and presets.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
If you’re interested in booking a photography session with me, feel free to reach out at photographybygiulina@gmail.com. I’d love to hear from you!
